And so.....

I've been busy.
I guess everyone's been busy but can you say "crazy busy"? In Auslan we use the same sign although I suppose it also means "hectic". Perhaps that's a good word for my life at thiss tage....
University, Careers, TAFE and oh, did I mention a toddler?
Toddlers can be a lot of fun but they can also be a pain sometimes. Ourterrible wonderful 2 year old is full of surprises and delights that I think every parent can reminisce about, even whilst giving yourself a baldie haircut from frustration as you yank tufts out of your scalp.
Communication has advanced in leaps and bounds but this has provided both joy and difficulty for the two of us. The joy lies in the ability for him to communicate more readily to me what he actually wants. this is great but he's doing it in less of a tactile way and more a verbal one which leads to frustration for both of us, especially when I misunderstand (i'm relatively good at guessing but I'm not perfect) and then he doesn't get what he's asking for. I feel really guilty in those circumstances. Iguess hope that we will find a communal ground of communication over time and that he will be able to convey more readily to me his desires, wishes and dreams.
Tantrums certainly present little difficulty in comprehension by me. Especially after little foot, fist or whatever other part of him gets thrown in my direction makes contact.... *ouch*.
What was really beautiful and amazing was that he finally is learning how to fingerspell and use formal tactile communication. About a month ago he said "Good Night" in tactile sign. It was such a wonderful feeling to "hear" his voice for the first time [note that my brain automatically transforms tactile sign into audio in my head]. I guess everyone has this wonderful moment as a parent when their children speak for the first time but this seemed so ultra special that I want to cherish it for the rest of my life and I am sure I will.
anyway, gotta blaze for now.
Cheers
